So far there have been a lot of good intentions, but this has only produced limited practical change, according to analysts.

    If the current debate on whether or not the lese majeste law should be amended escalates into confrontation and violence, it would not be because people involved subscribe to extremely different viewpoints, but because people in power respond to progressive needs with authoritarian answers.
